Georgia Town Threatened with Lawsuit Over Nativity Scene

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Satan will keep on trying to remove Christianity from sight if we let him. The laws of this country do not support the stance of people trying to suppress religious expression.

An attorney with the Alliance Defense Fund says a small Georgia town is being targeted by a liberal group that is trying to intimidate city officials into removing a nativity scene.

“The problem that Americans United for Separation of Church and State have is that any time you have any symbol or public display that has a religious connotation, they’re opposed to it,” explains [Senior legal counsel for ADF, Mike Johnson].

Johnson says that Americans United has a “very radical, anti-American vision” for the U.S., and that vision “goes against our deep religious heritage.” He also accuses the group of “misleading public officials” as they try to convince them to quit traditional Christmas displays. The senior legal counsel says officials need to fight back and tell groups like Americans United that they are not going to give in to the group’s “radical demands.” The American people, common sense, and the Constitution, says the attorney, are winning the battles against Christmas staged by the liberal left.

Hamas Broadcasts from Temple Mount on Jewish Holiday, Police Ban Jews & Christians From Site

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

It is completely beyond my comprehension how this can happen.

JERUSALEM – The Hamas terror group today broadcast live from the Temple Mount – Judaism’s holiest site – and announced it would commence daily programming from the site while Israeli police banned all Jews and Christian from ascending the Mount.

Jewish Temple Mount groups had wanted to lead tours this morning, which marked the start of Jewish fast day of the Tenth of Tevet, mourning the First Temple’s destruction and the siege placed on Jerusalem leading up to Temple’s destruction during the reign of the Babylonian ruler Nebuchadnezzar.

“Our broadcast is a victory for the Al Aqsa Mosque, which is suffering from Judaization efforts imposed by the Zionist government. Broadcasting daily radio is a way to bring Al Aqsa to the Gaza Strip and challenge the siege imposed on us by the Zionist entity,” said Rami Kaoud, a manager at Al Aqsa Radio, Hamas’ official radio network.

Along with the Jewish fast day, today also marked the start of Muslim holiday of Ein ul-Adhaa, which commemorates the Islamic belief of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael for Allah. According to Jewish and Christian tradition, Abraham nearly sacrificed his son Isaac, not Ishmael.

WND broke the story Monday that Hamas was planning to exclusively broadcast the Ein ul-Adhaa morning prayers and sermons from the Al Aqsa Mosque.

“Value Voter” Issues Still a Large Factor in Campaign

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

I would hope that they are. Some days I wonder, but I keep praying that people will vote their morals.

An article in USA Today contends that “the urgency of issues such as war, terrorism, and the economy” have “overrun ‘family values’ on the campaign’s agenda.” Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC), disagrees and says political pundits and the media are only wishing that “value voters” would go away since George W. Bush was re-elected in 2004.

“Candidates like Governor Mike Huckabee, Governor Mitt Romney — [those] who hit these issues head on — are the ones who are attracting the most support. In fact, [since] Governor Huckabee … began in October really addressing these core value issues that reach to the hearts of value-voters, his support has skyrocketed,” Perkins points out.

The FRC president says value voters do care about the economy and the war on terror, but their core value is the family — and that is an issue that will not go away, Perkins adds. During a Monday appearance on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, former presidential adviser David Gergen agreed with Perkins that family values were still high on the agenda of evangelical Christian voters.

Top Iranian Cleric Says Women Without Veils Must Die

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

The true colors of Islam continue to be highlighted by the actions of their top religious leaders.

Tehran, 19 Dec. (AKI) – A top Muslim cleric in Iran, Hojatolislam Gholam Reza Hassani said on Wednesday that women in Iran who do not wear the hijab or Muslim headscarf, should die.

“Women who do not respect the hijab and their husbands deserve to die,” said Hassani, who leads Friday prayers in the city of Urumieh, in Iranian Azerbaijan.

“I do not understand how these women who do not respect the hijab, 28 years after the birth of the Islamic Republic, are still alive,” he said.

“These women and their husbands and their fathers must die,” said Hassani, who is the representative of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in eastern Azerbaijan.

Hassani’s statements came after two Kurdish feminists in Iran were accused of being members of an armed rebel group and of carrying out subversive activities threatening the security of the state.

It is believed that his statements and the arrests could spark a fresh crackdown on women who do not repect the Islamic dress code in Iran.

Thousands of women in Iran have already been warned this year for their “un-Islamic dress” such as wearing tight, short coats and skimpy headscarves.
