Victims of Jerusalem Torah School Terror Shooting

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Last week we posted about a terrorist attack at a Jerusalem Torah school. As I always try to do, I want to show an image of the victims. These teens were hard at work, trying to learn about the Torah (the Hebrew Bible) when a Palestinian terrorist, who used to work at the school, entered it and started shooting. Minutes later, eight students are dead and nine are wounded.
This is the best photo I’ve found of the victims. If anyone knows were I can find a better one, please let me know.

Man Shoots Sister, Then Congratulated by Celebrating Family

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

An attempted honor killing, this time in Israel by an Israeli-Arab.

A 19-year-old woman from the Israeli-Arab town of Naura in northern Israel was hospitalized in critical condition at the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa Tuesday after being shot twice in the head by her own brother. The suspect shot his sister in order to preserve the “family’s honor,” and was warmly congratulated by his family for his actions, according to Afula police investigators.

“I just shot my sister,” the youth told MDA medics, who immediately reported the incident to police. His sister, who was shot in the head and repeatedly kicked in all parts of her body, played dead while her brother boasted to the family that he had managed to kill her in order to preserve the family’s honor.

Police investigators noted that the attempted murder was meticulously planned. The youth had informed his family members that he was going to murder his sister early Tuesday morning, and then set off to do just that. He headed to the entrance of the village in a vehicle which he had borrowed from his brother, and awaited his sister’s arrival.

The youth then shot his sister, who was startled to see him and proceeded to kick her repeatedly in order to ensure that she was no longer alive.

Chief Superintendent of the Afula Police Department, Orli Malka, stated that “the young woman was clever enough to play dead so that her brother would stop kicking her.” The shooter than called MDA medics and phone the police emergency hotline. “I just shot my sister,” he said, all the while keeping vigil over what he assumed was his sister’s lifeless corpse.

The young man than informed his family that he had shot his sister and was warmly greeted, hugged and congratulated by his brother and other family members.

Further information on the motive for the attack.

A short while after, the brother turned himself in to police, admitting he was responsible for the shooting. He maintained that his divorced sister was befriending men, and so he therefore shot her, thinking he killed her.

CDC: At Least 1 in 4 Teenage Girls Has Sexually Transmitted Disease

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Well look everyone. See what our over sexed, liberally educated society has done? See what the “condoms will protect you” mantra has netted us? What a great success the psycho babble “our kids are just going to do it anyway, so teach them to do it right” turned out to be…NOT!!
Abstinence is the only 100% proven method in preventing STD’s. Period. End of discussion. Anything else is just a lie.

At least one in four teenage girls nationwide has a sexually transmitted disease, or more than 3 million teens, according to the first study of its kind in this age group.

A virus that causes cervical cancer is by far the most common sexually transmitted infection in teen girls aged 14 to 19, while the highest overall prevalence is among black girls — nearly half the blacks studied had at least one STD. That rate compared with 20 percent among both whites and Mexican-American teens, the study from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found.

Among girls who admitted ever having sex, the rate was 40 percent. While some teens define sex as only intercourse, other types of intimate behavior including oral sex can spread some infections.

For many, the numbers likely seem “overwhelming because you’re talking about nearly half of the sexually experienced teens at any one time having evidence of an STD,” said Dr. Margaret Blythe, an adolescent medicine specialist at Indiana University School of Medicine and head of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ committee on adolescence.

But the study highlights what many doctors who treat teens see every day, Blythe said.

Dr. John Douglas, director of the CDC’s division of STD prevention, said the results are the first to examine the combined national prevalence of common sexually transmitted diseases among adolescent girls. He said they likely reflect current prevalence rates.

“High STD rates among young women, particularly African-American young women, are clear signs that we must continue developing ways to reach those most at risk,” Douglas said.

The CDC’s Dr. Kevin Fenton said given that STDs can cause infertility and cervical cancer in women, “screening, vaccination and other prevention strategies for sexually active women are among our highest public health priorities.”

The study by CDC researcher Dr. Sara Forhan is an analysis of nationally representative data on 838 girls who participated in a 2003-04 government health survey.

The results were prepared for release Tuesday at a CDC conference in Chicago on preventing sexually transmitted diseases.

Four common diseases were examined — human papillomavirus, or HPV, which can cause cervical cancer and affected 18 percent of girls studied; chlamydia, which affected 4 percent; trichomoniasis, 2.5 percent; and herpes simplex virus, 2 percent.

Blythe said the results are similar to previous studies examining rates of those diseases individually.

‘Witch City’ Judge Says Preaching is Disorderly Conduct

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Okay, first of all, why would any town want to be called “witch city”? I realize the witch trials are part of their history, but come on! Secondly, in America it is not illegal to preach the Gospel on the street. Apparently, the witch city needs to get a judge that understands the law.

A judge in Salem, Mass., which calls itself “Witch City,” has found a street preacher guilty of disorderly conduct for preaching the Gospel on Halloween night 2007.

Ben DuPre, an attorney with former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore’s Foundation for Moral Law, represented Michael Marcavage, and told WND an appeal will be filed.

“We’re surprised and disappointed,” he said today after the brief trial and court verdict. “Basically because the crowd was no big and boisterous he sided with the cops [who grabbed a megaphone from Marcavage and arrested him.]”

“He suppressed Michael’s ability to preach the Gospel. We’re confident on appeal cooler heads will prevail,” he said.

He earlier told WND the city of Salem should not be arresting people based on the content of their message.

AFA Boycott of Ford Comes to an End

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

The American Family Association reports that the 2 year boycott of Ford has come to an end. It is a well-known fact that Ford has had financial woes since the boycott began in 2005. When we initially blogged about this boycott a couple of years ago, we got lots of nasty comments. People who said that the AFA boycott would have no effect on Ford’s sales or profits. I find it funny that Ford’s major trouble has come between the years 2005-2008 while the boycott was in effect. Apparently Ford sees that the boycott had an impact on their business or they would never have agreed to lessen their stance on advertising to the homosexual community. The moral of this story? Big things happen when Christians stand up for what is right.

In the face of plummeting car sales, Ford Motor Company has taken steps to reduce its aggressive, pro-homosexual policies, thus prompting a family-rights group to call off its boycott of the carmaker.

The American Family Association says it’s suspending its two-year boycott of Ford, noting the auto giant has met the conditions of the original agreement between AFA and Ford from 2005.

AFA Chairman Donald Wildmon said the original agreement between the family group and Ford contained four items:

Ford would not renew current promotions or create future incentives that give cash donations to homosexual organizations based on the purchase of a vehicle.
Ford would not make corporate donations to homosexual organizations that, as part of their activities, engage in political or social campaigns to promote civil unions or same-sex marriage.
Ford would stop giving cash and vehicle donations or endorsements to homosexual social activities such as ‘gay’-pride parades.
Ford would cease all advertising on homosexual websites and through homosexual media outlets (magazines, television, radio) in the U.S. with the exception of $100,000 to be used by Volvo. The Volvo ads would be the same ads used in the general media and not aimed at the homosexual community specifically.
Wildmon said a few minor issues remain, and AFA will continue to bring these to the attention of Ford.

Bush Says Border Solution Includes Swinging Door

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

You have got to be kidding me!!!

The solution to security issues on the United States’ border with Mexico will need to include some sort of swinging door so that workers can come and go as they want, according to a spokeswoman for the White House.

The response came from spokeswoman Dana Perino, who answered a question from Les Kinsolving, WND’s correspondent at the White Hosue.

He asked:

“Reuters reports that our Customs and Border Protection Commissioner admits that the U.S. may not meet the goal of essentially stopping illegal immigration from Mexico by 2011. And my question: What does the president believe would help most in this effort, more border security personnel, more miles of border fence, or more enforcement of immigration regulations nationwide?”

“The president thinks that all of those issues are important, but he would add another measure, which is a temporary worker program so that we could have a legal mechanism for people who want to cross the border and work in America, but also want to go back home,” she said.

The Reuters report cited an admission from Ralph Basham, commissioner of the U.S. Customers and Border Protection, who said in 2005 the government projected having “operational control” of the border within five years.

However, in testimony before Congress, he said the Secure Border Initiative included several assumptions, and some of those underlying events have not happened.

“We’re going to be pushing to meet those goals … but I cannot with any assurance tell you right now that we’ll meet them,” Reuters reported he told a meeting of the House of Representatives Appropriations subcommittee on homeland security.

One congressman, Kentucky Republication Hal Rogers, said the bottom line has to be, “We are going to secure our borders and end illegal immigration.”

But Basham said one of the factors on which the protection was based was the assumption about a comprehensive immigration reform package, dubbed an amnesty program by opponents, which failed in Congress.

Officials also said the “virtual fence” that has been built along a 28-mile section of the border in Arizona has been delayed by technical problems, and opposition from landowners along the border also is delaying plans for 670 miles of fencing.

In a second question, Kinsolving asked, “Gov. Rick Perry of Texas has just written a new book entitled, ‘On My Honor: Why the American Values of the Boy Scouts Are Worth Fighting For.’ And my question: Does the former governor of Texas who is now president agree or disagree with this title?”

“I don’t know if he’s even aware of the book. And Gov. Perry was around last week and talked to him. I’m going to move on,” said Perino.

Kinsolving followed with the question that: You don’t want to leave the impression the president opposes both Perry and the Boy Scouts, do you?

“Of course he doesn’t,” Perino said.

Sri Lankan Pastor Gunned Down for Evangelical Work

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Continue to pray for our missionaries and the Christians in other countries as they face persecution.

Pastor Neil Edirisinghe of the House Church Foundation died at the scene, while his wife was shot in the stomach and was expected to recover. The couple’s two-year-old son also received minor injuries in the attack and was reportedly being treated for trauma. Todd Nettleton with Voice of the Martyrs says persecution against Christians in Sri Lanka is not new.

“The country of Sri Lanka is one where we have seen persecution …. We don’t know all the details of that situation yet; it’s still unfolding. But we do know here is a pastor gunned down, and it seems to be targeted because of his church leadership, because of his faith,” says Nettleton.

Nettleton says the shooting is a stark reminder of the dangers Christians face in restricted nations. “There’s somewhat of a perception that every Christian is as free as we are here in America. That is simply not true,” states the ministry spokesman. “There’s also the perception that persecution happened in the Bible, in the Book of Acts, but then it stopped after the Bible was finished — and that’s not true either.”

CA Home School Mom Says ‘We Will Have to Move’

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Kathleen, a home school mom from near Sacramento was caught completely off guard when she learned that a three-judge panel – considering a child welfare case — had issued a blanket ruling declaring that California parents do not have a constitutional right to home school their children. (see related story)

“I’m just shocked that it can happen quickly — that our fundamental right to educate our children can be taken away just with a snap of the fingers…” she exclaims. The home school mother hopes that legal groups like the Pacific Justice Institute, Alliance Defense Fund, Home School Legal Defense Association and others will be successful in having the ruling overturned.

“We will not give up home schooling our child,” she states. “If it means moving from out of state, however we have to do that, we will do it because that is what we feel that God has called us to do.” Kathleen says she and her husband have not had much chance to discuss the issue beyond that basic decision.

Even Kathleen’s nine-year-old son understands what is happening to parental rights in his home state. “He said to me, ‘This is like that bad man,’ which he couldn’t think of his name, ‘in Germany. That’s what it reminds me of,'” she continues. “And I was surprised at his perception, that he actually considered that a comparison.

Clinton Loosing to Obama, Offers Him V.P. Position Anyway

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

The Clinton’s have no middle ground. They are either raising my blood pressure with their antics, or causing me to laugh outright. The latest antic was definitely in the “laugh outright” category.
For those who might have missed it, Clinton, who is trailing significantly in the Democratic primaries, true to Clinton form, has the gall to offer Obama the position of Vice-President in her administration.
OK folks, let’s look at this again…Clinton is loosing, Obama is winning, but Clinton offers Obama the Vice-Presidency. True to Clinton form.

In a fiery rebuttal to suggestions emerging over the past week, Barack Obama on Monday shot down suggestions he become Hillary Clinton’s wing man and questioned the logic of those who say he is prepared for the vice presidency but not to be president.

Speaking at a town hall style meeting in Columbus, Miss., the Illinois senator said the proposal floated by Clinton’s campaign over the last week that he be her running mate doesn’t make sense, especially since he has won twice as many states as Clinton, hundreds of thousands more of the popular vote and 110 more delegates so far.

“I am not running for vice president, I am running for president of the United States of America. I am running to be commander in chief,” Obama boomed to applause. “I don’t know how somebody in second place is offering vice president to the person in first place.”

Obama was speaking fresh off a weekend Democratic caucuses victory in Wyoming that turned the Democratic presidential primary contest back into a horse race. Mississippi’s primary is on Tuesday and Obama is far ahead in the Magnolia State, according to several polls of voters there.

Clinton began talking up the idea of a “dream ticket” last week when she suggested that maybe one day voters will have a chance to elect both her and Obama at the same time. The notion of a dream ticket was forwarded again by Bill Clinton over the weekend while campaigning on his wife’s behalf in Mississippi.

While Obama has been plagued by claims he is all fluff and no substance, he said he doesn’t want voters to get caught in the spin being put out that a Democratic ballot — with Clinton in the one slot and Obama in the second slot — would be a dream ticket.

“I don’t want anyone here thinking that somehow maybe I can get both. Don’t think that way, you have to make a choice in this election. Are you going to go along with the past or are you going to go with the future?” he asked.

“I do not believe Senator Clinton is about change,” he added, “because in fact this kind of gamesmanship — talking about being vice president, maybe he’s maybe not ready for commander in chief — that is exactly the kind of double speak, double talk that Washington is very good at, that people who spend a long time in Washington have a lot of experience at, but is not going to solve the problems of the country. Have I been clear? I want to make sure I’m clear to everybody.”

On Monday, Clinton campaign officials were asked how Clinton could consider Obama as a potential running mate if she doesn’t think he is qualified to be commander in chief.

Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson responded that Obama “has not passed the commander in chief test but there is a long way between now and Denver. (It is) not something she’s prepared to rule out at this point.”

“Obama ‘has not passed the commander in chief test'”. What a hilarious statement. And somehow, Hillary has? If you believe that, you need to read this post.
