‘Faith’ Groups Oxymoronic in Exalting Same-Sex ‘Marriage’

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Supporters of California’s Proposition 8, which defines marriage as between one man and one woman, are waiting for that state’s Supreme Court to act on several legal cases designed to overturn the vote.

Briefs in support of and against overturning the people’s vote on Prop. 8 are being filed with the court, including ones from some faith groups who are supporting homosexual “marriage.” Jim Garlow is senior pastor of Skyline Wesleyan Church in San Diego and notes an apparent oxymoron.

“To call themselves faith groups, assuming that means some tie with historicity of the scriptures, and then turn around and trash traditional marriage and exalt so-called same-sex marriage, is an incongruity,” he contends.

Hamas Declares: “Factions Committed to Truce”, As They Launch Rockets Into Israel

Friday, November 21st, 2008

As usual, the Pali terrorist say one thing and then do exactly the opposite.
Why does the world even give these people the time of day, let alone trying to give them their own country?

Armed Palestinians factions are committed to the Gaza truce, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh declared Friday afternoon, hours after terrorists fired a Kassam rocket and two mortar shells at southern Israel.

“I have met with armed factions over the past two days and they stated their position clearly: they are committed to calm as long as (Israel) abides by it,” Haniyeh said at the end of Friday prayers in Gaza.

Haniyeh also denied there was tension with Egypt following the collapse of Egyptian-mediated talks between his group and Fatah.

“In day-to-day relations there may be differences, this is true, but it does not mean that there is a strategic tension with our brothers in Egypt,” Haniyeh said.

The Kassam rocket fired Friday morning hit an industrial zone south of Ashkelon, while the mortar shells landed near an IDF patrol north of the Kissufim crossing. No one was wounded in either attack.

Prop. 8 Opponents Rejecting Democracy

Friday, November 21st, 2008

The outcry from the homosexual community against these acts of violence is next to nonexistent. They have the same thoughts as the Muslims; deep down they agree with the methods being used.

Brian Fitzpatrick, senior editor at the Culture and Media Institute, recently wrote a column called “Crouching Fascism, Hidden Media.” He says on November 4, a majority of voters in liberal California approved Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment declaring that only marriages between a man and a woman are valid in the state. But he points out that militant homosexuals have not respected that decision and have vandalized property, threatened people, and mailed white powder to Mormon churches. Fitzpatrick calls that “fascism.”

“Fascism rejects democratic values. We see outright rejection of democracy in California. We see people trying to turn to the courts,” he explains. “We see people trying to victimize or punish people who voted against them — and this is not the American way. It’s a very frightening cultural development.”

The national media, Fitzpatrick adds, has been AWOL concerning these incidents. “All we’ve seen is continued coverage of this issue as a civil rights battle or this issue as a blow against homosexuals and homosexual couples. We see emotional pitches,” he says. “We see no serious analysis of the significance of homosexual or same-sex marriage, whether it’s good or bad for society.”

“Obama, the Bishops, and FOCA” by Dr. Paul Kengor

Friday, November 21st, 2008

A potential big battle has begun, one of special interest to all Christians and guaranteed to generate a lot of attention from all Americans.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has issued a stern warning to president-elect Obama and his incoming administration, highlighting grave concerns over what will happen to unwanted, unborn human life. The statement was delivered at the end of the annual assembly that represents all American bishops—i.e., the full American Catholic Church. It was issued by Francis Cardinal George of Chicago, president of the USCCB.

The subject is the once unthinkable Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), which Barack Obama promised will be the “first thing” he signs as president. As the bishops forcefully noted, FOCA would eliminate countless reasonable restrictions on abortion enacted by bipartisan legislatures—Democrats and Republicans working together—over the past 35 years, including parental-consent laws and protection for babies who accidentally survive an abortion. FOCA, wrote the bishops, “would coerce all Americans into subsidizing and promoting abortion with their tax dollars.” Every American would be complicit in paying for abortions—you would have no choice.

This would not only be unprecedented in American history but light years removed from Obama’s claim that he “respects” those with different points of view in the pro-life camp.

Most shocking, and of special concern to the bishops, is the fear that FOCA would eliminate the freedom of conscience of doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers—Catholic, non-Catholic, you name it—to not participate in abortion procedures at their hospitals. The bishops noted that this would be an attack on Americans’ free exercise of religion. FOCA “would have lethal consequences” not only for prenatal human life but for the most basic freedoms that living, working Americans have long held dear.

Further, the bishops dread that FOCA would require all hospitals with obstetrics programs to do abortions, a natural expectation given that Obama has spoken of abortion as a “fundamental right,” a basic government service, and a vital component of America’s “safety net.” He calls groups like Planned Parenthood a “safety-net provider.” The bishops fear that this aspect of FOCA would mandate Catholic hospitals to provide abortions, which would force the hospitals to shut down rather than compromise their beliefs.

America’s Most Wanted to Air Segment on Said Sisters “Honor Killing”

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Dr. Phyllis Chesler has advised that the Fox Network show, “America’s Most Wanted”, is going to air a segment about Sarah and Amina Said, the two Dallas girls who were “honor killed” by their father.
We have extensive coverage of this murder, including statements from Gail Gartrell, the girl’s Great-Aunt.
The episode of America’s Most Wanted will air this coming Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 9pm est. The segment about the Said sisters will run for 13 minutes and will probably air as the second story of the hour.

  • This coming Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 9pm est, America’s Most Wanted, which is Fox-TV’s longest running program, will fictionalize the heinous double murder of Texas-American teenagers, Amina and Sarah Said, by their father, Yaser Abdul Said, and, in my opinion, by their mother Patricia (”Tissy,”) as well.

The producer told me that this created-for-TV drama will run for 13 minutes and will probably air as the second story of the hour.

Gail Gartrell, who is the heroically determined great-aunt of the two doomed girls, insisted that the producer call me herself to verify that the show was, finally, going to run. (Thank you Gail!) The drama was “in the can” long ago but producers wisely delayed airing it until after the Great Election Madness had died down.

    Pray For James

    Friday, November 21st, 2008

Our friend, James, has been diagnosed with lung cancer. The good news is that it is still in it’s beginning stages. We need to pray for James that God will heal him, that the doctors will know what to do to help and he will be given peace as he deals with this horrible situation.
