Doubt About Obama Eligibility Spreads

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

The concern over President Obama’s eligibility to be president under the U.S. Constitution’s demand that the office be occupied by a “natural born” citizen is spreading, with additional writers conceding questions remain about the dispute.

“Yes, there were ambiguities about Obama’s birth certificate that have never been satisfactorily resolved. And the embargo on Obama’s educational records remains troubling,” wrote Camille Paglia, a progressive author and columnist at

Her commentary addresses Obama’s “painful missteps,” and she addressed charges that Obama has suffered from poor advice.

“The buck stops with the top executive. But we all know how little executive experience Barack Obama has had. He was elected for his vision and his steady, deliberative character, not his résumé. For better or worse, Obama is learning as he goes – and surely most fair-minded people would grant him reasonable leeway as he grows into the presidency, one of the hardest jobs in the world,” she wrote.

“At a certain point, however, Obama will face an inescapable administrative crux. Arriving at the White House, he understandably stayed in his comfort zone by bringing old friends and allies with him …. But these comrades may not have the practical skills or broad perspective to help Obama govern,” wrote Paglia.

Citing “one needless gaffe after another,” including the “embarrassing incident” in which Obama bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia, she wrote about the “ambiguities” about his birth certificate and the “troubling” status of Obama’s concealed educational records.

“Obama will need to cut the umbilical to his hometown posse, whose inefficiency and poor decision-making took the shine off his honeymoon and brought the dispirited Republicans back from the dead,” she advised.

Previous Salon articles addressing Obama’s eligibility largely were penned by Alex Koppelman, who heaped scorn on the plaintiffs and lawyers involved in dozens of cases across the nation seeking verification of Obama’s eligibility.

“You might think these rumors would have died off after Obama produced proof in June that he was, in fact, born in Hawaii to an American citizen, his mother, Ann, or after Hawaii state officials confirmed in October that he was born there. You might think the rumors would have died off after he was elected by a comfortable margin. Instead, they’ve intensified,” he wrote.

Talk radio host and Newsmax columnist Barry Farber has questioned whether Obama is hiding his birth certificate.

“Watergate was Nixon’s 800-pound gorilla everybody talked about, who sat there until he broke the sofa,” he penned. “The location of Obama’s birth is an 800-pound gorilla that gets fatter every day and nobody – at least nobody in major media – likes to admit its existence. There’s never been a coming-together of factors resembling this one in America’s entire political history.

“The question of President Obama’s birth place threatens to undermine his very eligibility to serve, and to toss America into a constitutional crisis of unfathomable proportions,” he said.

“The Constitution insists that the president be a natural-born American. We have the president’s paternal grandmother claiming she was present at his birth in Kenya, and we have a TV talk host named Keith Olbermann who tells those who say things like that to put the Reynolds Wrap back on their heads. We have no proof that grandma was there or that Obama doubters like to wear Reynolds Wrap on their heads,” Farber continued. “We know a few facts for certain. And our knowledge is disturbing. We know that President Obama is either covering up the truth of his birthplace or, and this is an Olympic stretch, refusing to offer proof because of some unstated ‘principle.’

“The American people may not be all we used to be, but we’re not yet ready to roll over and smile at the sight of a confection designed to masquerade as a birth certificate while we’re being angrily denied a look at the real thing,” he wrote.

“Not only is the birth certificate issue taboo but also we’re not allowed to see Obama’s applications to Columbia and Harvard. Such forms may have inconvenient answers to questions like, “Citizenship?” “Place of birth?” etc.

“I don’t care where an American president was born. I do care about the Constitution. A businessman who keep two sets of books goes to jail. It’s worse when a country lists which laws we must obey and which we’re free to ignore,” Farber said.

The move even has attracted the attention of websites that primarily monitor and deride reporting on the issue. One such organization said Farber now had decided to “fully embrace” the “fear-mongering.”

Questions about Obama’s birth place were being raised even before he was elected. He had reported he was born in Honolulu, but because he has steadfastly refused to release a copy of his long-form birth certificate, which would put such questions to rest, dozens of lawsuits have been filed challenging his eligibility to serve as president under the Constitution’s “natural born citizen” clause.

While many of the lawsuits have been dismissed, most have not been heard for reasons of jurisdiction and standing, rather than on the evidence and merit of the challenges.

So far, there have been two definitive statements on his eligibility, including one from an Obama campaign spokeswoman talking about the challenges who told WND, “All I can tell you is that it is just pure garbage.”

The other is from Chiyome Fukino, the director of the Hawaiian Department of Health, who issued a statement, “I as Director of Health for the State of Hawaii, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.”

As with the court opinions, what is not said is significant. While the certificate on file is “in accordance with state policies and procedures,” there’s no affirmation that the document reflects a Hawaiian birth.

Nor is there any explanation for the image of the Hawaii state “certification of live birth” that has been posted by Obama on the Internet purporting to document his Hawaiian birth, even though Hawaiian procedures at the time allowed the document to be issued to parents of children not born in the state.

For example, why would an individual with a verified birth certificate also have a “certification of live birth?”

The questions raised over Obama’s eligibility are all very simple: The Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, states, “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”

But getting the issue discussed has been a huge obstacle, and what courts have done several times, including once in a California case, is to schedule hearings on the issue on a date far beyond any reasonable expectation of having applicability, lawyers have said. For example, a challenge to the Electoral College vote for Obama, raised early in November, still hasn’t had a court hearing.

It was in his autobiography that Obama reported he was born in Honolulu, and the online “Certification of Live Birth” states that.

But when WND senior staff writer Jerome Corsi went there, he was told any Obama records were sealed, and although they would be released if the person made the request, Obama simply has refused to do that.

Corsi also traveled to Kenya where he was also told records pertaining to Obama in Kenya were sealed.

There also have been no confirmed hospital records uncovered that would document his birth, and an investigator even cast doubt on whether the Obama family lived at the address listed in the newspaper announcements.

Obama to Push Amnesty Bill

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

No surprise here. His Supreme Ones-ness, Emperor Obama I of America (sagiaoe), will need to be reelected in four years. What better way to do it than to provide an entire new group of entitled people to vote for him. If we even have elections in four years, that is.

President Obama is gearing up for yet another legislative battle, this time over the contentious issue of immigration, according to a New York Times report that says one of the goals will be to a create a path for illegal immigrants to become legal.

The push for immigration reform would echo one of Obama’s campaign pledges, though its success is uncertain in a tough economic climate.

Administration officials tell the Times that Obama plans to speak publicly about the issue in May and will press lawmakers from both parties to begin discussing legislation by the fall.

The goal will be “policy reform that controls immigration and makes it an orderly system,” Cecilia Munoz, director of the White House’s intergovernmental affairs, told the Times. “He intends to start the debate this year.”

However, the new push for immigration reform would come in the wake of the failure two years ago of the Secure Borders, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Reform Act. That bill received criticism from both sides of the immigration debate, despite being portrayed as a compromise between legalization of illegal immigrants and increased border enforcement.

During Obama’s campaign, he pledged to “bring people out of the shadows” through a system that would allow the 12 million undocumented immigrants to pay a fine, learn English and go to the back of the line in the citizenship process.

“Opponents, mainly Republicans, say they will seek to mobilize popular outrage against any effort to legalize unauthorized immigrant workers while so many Americans are out of jobs,” the Times said.

“Let’s All Surrender Our Weapons — You First!” by Ann Coulter

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

The rash of recent shooting incidents has led people who wouldn’t know an AK-47 from a paintball gun to issue demands for more restrictions on guns. To be sure, it’s hard to find any factor in these shootings that could be responsible — other than the gun.

So far, this year’s public multiple shootings were committed by:

— Richard Poplawski, 23, product of a broken family, expelled from high school and dishonorably discharged from the Marines, who killed three policemen in Pittsburgh.

— Former crack addict Jiverly Wong, 41, who told co-workers “America sucks” yet somehow was not offered a job as a speechwriter for Barack Obama, who blockaded his victims in a civic center in Binghamton, N.Y., and shot as many people as he could, before killing himself.

— Robert Stewart, 45, a three-time divorcee and high school dropout with “violent tendencies” — according to one of his ex-wives — who shot up the nursing home in Carthage, N.C., where his newly estranged wife worked.

— Lovelle Mixon, 26, a paroled felon, struggling to get his life back on track by pimping, who shot four cops in Oakland, Calif. — before eventually being shot himself.

— Twenty-eight-year-old Michael McLendon, child of divorce, living with his mother and boycotting family funerals because he hated his relatives, who killed 10 of those relatives and their neighbors in Samson, Ala.

It might make more sense to outlaw men than guns. Or divorce. Or crack. Or to prohibit felons from having guns. Except we already outlaw crack and felons owning guns and yet still, somehow, Wong got crack and Mixon got a gun.

After being pulled over for a routine traffic violation, Lovelle Mixon did exactly what they teach in driver’s ed by immediately shooting four cops. Mixon’s supporters held a posthumous rally in his honor, claiming he shot the cops only in “self-defense,” which I take it includes the cop Mixon shot while the officer was lying on the ground.

I guess Mixon also raped that 12-year-old girl in “self-defense.” Clearly, the pimping industry has lost a good man. I wish I’d known him. I tip my green velvet fedora with the dollar signs all over it to him. Why do the good ones always die young? Pimps, I mean.

Liberals tolerate rallies on behalf of cop-killers, but they prohibit law-abiding citizens working at community centers in Binghamton, N.Y., from being armed to defend themselves from disturbed, crack-addicted America-haters like Jiverly Wong.

It’s something in liberals’ DNA: They think they can pass a law eliminating guns and nuclear weapons, but teenagers having sex is completely beyond our control.

The demand for more gun control in response to any crime involving a gun is exactly like Obama’s response to North Korea’s openly belligerent act of launching a long-range missile this week: Obama leapt to action by calling for worldwide nuclear disarmament.

USA Today Writes Pseudo History of ‘Transformational’ Obama as ‘Global President’

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Obama’s Department of Propaganda (formerly known as the Mainstream Media), continue their blatant love affair with Emperor Obama I (sagiaoe)*, one reporter proclaiming him as performing a history changing tour of Europe before he’s even back yet.

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama “is our first global president,” according to historian Douglas Brinkley.

“Obama came of age, really, after the Cold War, with the Internet being the transformative engine of society, and he now takes his multicultural heritage and the geographical diversity of his upbringing” to the world, Brinkley said in an interview Tuesday as Obama wrapped up his first trip abroad.

Brinkley, who has written about presidents from Teddy Roosevelt to Ronald Reagan, said Obama “is playing to the world right out of the gates, whereas most presidents have not.”

Whether you like Obama or not, it is hard to disagree that, by virtue of biography and message, he is a transformational American leader abroad. His trip to Europe and Asia was the confirming stamp of that new reality.

It is too early to judge the trip as a policy success or failure. Tough economic challenges still loom, and the ambitious goals Obama set out while on the trip, from nuclear arms reduction to a closer relationship with Russia, could wilt in the fires of competing geopolitical interests.

But it is clear that the age of Obama follows an era in which America’s image abroad was defined by Guantanamo and Iraq and an unpopular figure in the White House in the post-9/11 years.

“The great success that (Obama) has had abroad makes everybody feel good about our country at a time of economic woe, and that is a big thing,” Brinkley said.

But here’s what really happened…

European's Snub Obama -Press See Success

Newsbusters has this to say:

USA Today’s Chuck Raasch has decided that President Obama is a “transformational American leader abroad” and that his America Stinks tour of Europe is a “confirming stamp of that new reality.” This effluvia of over indulgent praise heaped on Obama is ubiquitous in the media, we all know, but what makes Raasch’s piece egregious is the assumption of historical “truth” that posits that Obama has already succeeded as president even though he’s only been in office a few short months. Raash states as fact that Obama has “transformed” America’s image with this one tour and that all sorts of new and better relations have followed.

But, the main problem with Raasch’s sycophancy is that “followed” hasn’t even arrived yet. In fact, Raasch writes this article before Obama’s trip abroad is fairly done. It is idiotic to say what “has” come of it all before the president has even set his feet back on American soil. And this is a key problem with all these fake assessments of the “success” of Obama’s presidency. There hasn’t BEEN any “success” because history has yet to see the outcome of anything he’s done thus far.

But this doesn’t stop the slobbering Obama love affair that mediots like Raasch wallow in. It all amounts to little else but propaganda as opposed to serious analysis — serious prOpaganda, if you will.

The reality is that getting handed the keys to the White House is Obama’s only true “success” to date. He hasn’t “fixed” the economy, for instance. Sure he’s bellowed a lot of hot air about it. He’s made pronouncements and seen a few spending bills passed. But nothing has actually succeeded up to this point. Right now we are all still waiting to see if anything he’s done or has proposed will work. We won’t know this for some time.

The same goes for his tour of Europe. All we know right now is that many of our enemies like what he had to say because he dissed America, bowed to tyrannical “Kings” and told the rest of the world that the USA is sorry for being so bold.

But, so what? What he did so far has actually resulted in nothing simply because not enough time has passed to see what will come of it all. We cannot say, like Raasch did, that he is a “transformational” American leader abroad. There simply is NO proof that this is a trueism. It may end up being true some day, but as of right now it is not very intelligent to state it as fact. Yet Raasch, as his ilk are prone to doing, has already decided that Obama has succeeded as president to transform for the better our image abroad.

Truth is, Obama’s naive tour of Europe could be transformational in the worst of ways, empowering our enemies, hurting American interests, and causing allies to waver in their support. Or maybe the opposite will happen? The point is we cannot know right now what will become of Obama’s efforts. We only have guesses, fears, hopes, dreams, speculation. But we have no facts, no done deals, no truth to point to so that we can deem his European vacation a success or a failure.

We also have no proof at all that beside getting elected Obama will succeed at anything as president. He may yet end up the best president ever. He may also become the worst laughing stock since Carter. Or even worse than that.

Condemn the Real Roadblocks to Peace

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Instead of blaming Bibi, condemn those who silenced Palestinian ‘Peace orchestra’

Pundits are atwitter over Avigdor Lieberman’s first speech as Israel’s Foreign Minister wherein he committed to the 2003 Roadmap to Peace, but rejected the 2007 Annapolis Accord. The BBC reports that diplomats “shifted uncomfortably” when the Russian-born leader posited that “the other side also bears responsibility” for peace.

As the international community draws up its list of demands for the Right-leaning Netanyahu government to prove “it’s serious about making peace,” they should also give this one to PA President Abbas — “re-instate the Strings of Peace Orchestra.” For the question of the fate of this ensemble will reveal more about the future of the Middle East than any speech or position paper.

Last week, 13 Palestinians, ages 11 to 18, belonging to the Strings of Freedom Orchestra took a brief journey from a West Bank refugee camp in Jenin. Their trip brought them to Holon, Israel to perform a “Good Deeds” concert honoring 30 Holocaust Survivors. “We Sing for Peace,” was performed in Arabic and audience members reciprocated with an impromptu Hebrew song.

If there ever was an example of “the audacity of hope” – this was it. But the Palestinian Authority moved swiftly to quash a small initiative that for a few moments cracked carefully nurtured stereotypes of the Israeli enemy. The concert, insisted an official in Jenin, was a “dangerous matter” threatening the cultural and national identity of Palestinian children! The gesture to elderly Holocaust victims was denounced; the Holocaust, he warned, was “a political issue.” The orchestra was promptly disbanded, its conductor, an Israeli Arab woman, Wafa Younis, barred from the camp and her apartment-studio boarded up.

The silencing of this little orchestra did not occur in a vacuum. It’s echoed by the stony silence of Mideast peacemakers, accompanied by the deafening din of global ritualized Israel bashing.

Is it too much to expect a word of protest from Jimmy Carter, the Mideast Quartet, or The European Union? How about a resolution from UNESCO (E = Education, C = Culture)? Might we hear a note of solidarity from the London Philharmonic or music icons and activists Annie Lenox or Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens)?

And what of the thousands of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that constitute the vanguard of international “civil society” or the distinguished academics chairing well-endowed chairs in Middle East or Peace Studies?

No, self-anointed peacemakers don’t applaud the young Palestinians’ peace concert. They do remain willfully blind, dumb, and deaf to human rights outrages – small or large – if the culprits are Arabs or Muslims.

Embracing Hamas’ genocidal narrative
Evidence the upcoming Durban II UN World Conference Against Racism where chair Libya, aided by Iran, Pakistan, and Sudan will erase any record of their own dismal Human Rights records, even as they lip-sync pre-canned anti-Israel resolutions.

Ditto for the UN Human Rights Council (HRC): Mute about Hamas deploying Palestinian women and children as human shields and using mosques, schools, and houses as depots and rocket launching pads, it’s Special Rapporteur for Palestine, Richard Falk, leads the chorus to deny Israel every member state’s right of self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Will academics take up the rights of these Palestinian kids? Not likely. The same Richard Falk, an international law professor emeritus at UC Santa Barbara, just signed a new petition that would deep six the Education Abroad Program linking the University of California and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, an institutional beacon for outreach to the Palestinians. The petition ratchets up the decibel level of a carefully orchestrated anti-Israel campaign on American campuses – one that increasingly embraces Hamas’ genocidal narrative in the Holy Land.

To bring real change to the Middle East, President Obama’s Special Envoy, Senator Mitchell, needs to break new ground. A good place to start is by re-directing American taxpayer-dollars currently supporting the United National Refugee Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) – which just hired Hamas teachers committed to creating new generations into a culture of death in Gaza.

Mitchell should add two stops on his next visit: First, a solidarity session with Wafa Younis, the beleaguered conductor. It’s the best way for the US to signal the Palestinian Authority to finally dismantle its infrastructure of hatred toward Israel inculcated by West Bank schools, mosques, and media. Then he should pay a condolence call to the family of 13 year old Shlomo Nativ, axed to death by a Palestinian product of that culture of death.

Music’s potential as a universal healer is being played out, not only by Palestinian youngsters silenced in Jenin. Native American musician-composer Bill Miller is currently performing his Grammy Award-winning composition, “The Last Stand,” on tour with Israel’s Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra. The best first – and “last stand” – for true peace resides not in any grandiose road map or political photo-ops, but with people who truly seek coexistence and mutual respect. It is those still small voices that demand our protection and nurturing.
