Celebrities Warn: 10 Yrs. To Save Planet

Okay, just because you play a scientist on TV or in a movie, doesn’t really make you a scientist. Just thought I would clear that up since there are several celebrities that don’t seem to get that. I find it hilarious that Hollyweird insists on weighing in on subjects they know nothing about. Instead of warning people how to keep our planet cool, they need to be warning people to turn to God before it’s too late. After all, God is the maker of this planet and He is in complete control of all aspects of it – including the temperatures.

A NEW worldwide movement backed by celebrities, musicians, politicians and business leaders is aiming to reverse the effects of global warming over the next decade.

Global Cool launched in London and LA today and is calling on one billion people to reduce their carbon emissions by just one tonne a year, for the next 10 years.

Boffins have found the climatic tipping point – when the climate becomes irreversibly damaged – can be turned back if global CO2 emissions are reduced by one billion tonnes a year.

Campaigners then hope cleaner, renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, water and hydrogen would have been developed.

Big names including Leonardo Di Caprio, Orlando Bloom, KT Tunstall, Pink, The Killers, Razorlight and Josh Hartnett have thrown their weight behind the worldwide effort to beat climate change.

A website has been set up, www.global-cool.com, with advice on how to go green by reducing energy consumption through doing simple things such as sharing a shower with a mate.

So… you think we shouldn’t do anything about global warming because god is in control? Seriously?

    That sounds so… defeatist…

I suppose you shouldn’t worry about abortions, then… I mean, if god’s in control of even the temperature, you’d think he’d be in control of what women are doing with their bodies, wouldn’t he?

We humans have free will to make our own choices. Sometimes those choices are right (ie. loving your neighbor)and sometimes they are not (ie. violently killing innocent babies who cannot defend themselves). We DO NOT have control over the weather – the weather is controlled by God. (You didnt use really a good comparison there, but then, you knew that. 🙂

You can try your best to save the ozone, save the rainforest, save the glaciers, and save the wetlands, but the reality is that God determines the weather/climate changes – not man. What we really need to be concerned with is not the state of our climate, but the state of our souls. God told us in the Bible that in the last days there would be signs in the sun, the moon, the weather would be unpredictable, etc, etc, etc. You KNOW the signs and if you were really honest with yourself, you would have to say that the Biblical signs of Jesus’ return are in the news headlines everyday in increasing numbers. I know you will argue that the wild weather, wars, problems in Israel have been around forever. And in a way, you are right. What is different now than say 200 years ago is that the signs are occuring more rapidly and on a larger scale. If you know anything about Bible prophecy, you have to admit that the headlines everyday point directly to what the Bible told us would happen.

I am sure that while you are reading this you are already preparing your next blog post about “Crazy Fundies Think Jesus Is Coming Because Israel is Preparing for War” OR “Interview With Beth: She is a Fundmental Idiot” – well, maybe you will come up with something more creative (at least I hope you will). My point is that you can argue with me all you want about God, and you can say nasty things about me on your blog, you can write a long essay about darwin, but you are not going to convince me that Jesus is not alive and getting ready to come back to earth to take His people home. And, as much as I hate it, I will probably never make you see that you are so wrong about God. So, I suppose as usual we will just have to agree to disagree and each give our three cents worth (in a loving way).

Did you ever think that maybe what you call global warming is God’s way of telling you/us all something? Just a thought.

You are always welcome to comment, but remember you will always get back my ten cents! 🙂 Have a great night!

Truth is, man’s been ruining the environment since the Industrial revolution…

If we destroy the world, there’ll be no souls left to save, will there? Science has proven we’ve altered our environment–it’s just a shame you don’t want to see that.

Regardless, I’d never call you an fundamental idiot–at least, in public 😀

As for the example, it may not have been the best, I’ll give you that. It was off-the-cuff.

As for your “end of the world” rhetoric, at least I can say you bring back a great song by R.E.M. to mind. You guys have been saying that since Paul was knee-high to a grasshopper… And I suppose you’ll keep saying it till the martian cows we place on Andromeda 6 in the 6th quadrant of the Finlay galaxie come home…

  4. Beth says:

Actually, the truth is that man runs virtually nothing – God is in control of the environment…..it’s a shame you just dont want to see that.

I thank you so much for not calling me a fundamentalist idiot (in those exact words) in public, even though you imply it quite often. 🙂

As for the REM song—um, I never was a fan of REM, but whatever. Martian cows?…….Andromeda……….Finlay galaxie…………….yeah, whatever. I’m more of a Casting Crowns kind of girl.

Have a great day and stay off Andromeda and out of the Finlay galaxie – the air is better down here on earth. “-)

Our souls can be saved in an instant when we turn Jesus (and that is for TODAY and eternally) . When we accept Jesus as Lord & Saviour this allows the Holy Spirit to change us. The reason the world has gone to “hell” is human ego (power) and greed – If we truly loved God and our neighbour we would not be in the state we are in. God forsaw how selfish our human nature would be and so it is prophesied – he has given people many chances to change. Basically most of the world is disobedient and just out for themselves – its called Free Will. Large conglomerates (petrochemical, pharmaceutical, agriculture, automotive and industrial) who are corrupt and power crazy and greedy help to cause the culture & environment we now live in. I could go on with examples how this could not have happened and be prevented but it has. And yes, Jesus’s return has been awaited for nearly 2,000 years but according to theologian, 89% of biblical prophecy has now been fulfilled so it makes sense that we are now nearing the “end times”. And as stated the natural disasters and talks of war etc are increasing and the effects are more catastrophic presently – not seen since the flood.

At the end of the day – those of us who love & accept Jesus and have seen the miracles that he can perform in our daily lives – we are either right or deluding ourselves but if we are right – we get to go to heaven and enjoy the eternal kingdom – which can start now. If we are wrong – at least we tried to live the best way we can (I dont think for a minute I am wrong – i have had too much proof that Jesus is alive and his Holy Spirit is working). But i know some of you think we are wrong – for your soul’s sake i hope you are right! I have absolutely nothing to lose – and i can help save the environment by doing what i can to reduce my carbon footprint in the meantime.

    With Love in Christ,

souls are immortal – its where you choose to go before D day (dead day) thats important as to whether you enjoy eternal kingdom of God or hell. The soul can’t be destroyed although the physical body can – but the decision to choose Jesus needs to be made in the physical…..

Science can prove all sorts of things – for instance that the willow bark has aspirin like qualities – it doesnt mean that God didnt create it though. Science discovers what God already knows/created.

“All that man needs for health and healing has been provided by God in nature, the challenge of science is to find it.” Philippus Theophrastus Aureolus Bombastus von Hohenheim (Paracelsus) (1493-1541)

Anyone who believes man is capable of destroying the world displays colossal arrogance.

I tend to agree with you.

Hi, I’ve been a Christian all my life and I have put my faith in God as my saviour. I am trying to do some research for a project at school and was wondering if you could be of any assistance. The question I am writing about is ‘why do we need Jesus if science has all the answers?’ It is a typical God vs Science debate but it would be great if you could help me answer this question from more than one perspective. It’s not saying Do we need Jesus because I believe we do, but more why should we and why do we continue to put our trust in Christ when science keeps trying to prove that we don’t need Jesus or even that he doesn’t exist. Thank you very much,
    Yours in Christ, Sam

I think that is a great subject, but it will take me some time to get the information together. Meanwhile, check out the resources I have listed in the sidebar of the blog. There are many good websites addressing your argument.

  12. Sam says:

Thank you very much!! shall do.

  13. Steve says:

I think your question deserves it’s own post. I’ll try to get to that this morning.
    God Bless!!

    Thankyou Steve!
